We are looking for a head swim coach & an assistant swim coach!
The Pirates:
The Arden Manor Pirates Swim Club is a summer recreation swim team that focuses on development, competitiveness and fun! Our team is located in the Arden Arcade area and consists of 80+ swimmers of varying skill levels ranging from 4 – 18 years old.
PREVIOUS SWIM TEAM COACHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Summary of Position:
Coaches for the Arden Manor Pirate’s provide guidance, leadership, and instruction to the team. This seasonal/temporary position for the Arden Manor Recreation and Park District will oversee the operations of a recreation swim team program.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Essential Functions/Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Organize and conduct swim team practices with age-appropriate workouts including an emphasis on technique, stroke development, drills, and endurance-fitness in a fun and safe environment.
- Communicate with parents and swimmers in a professional, friendly manner.
- Foster relationships with swim families to create an enjoyable and memorable swim team experience.
- Schedule and evaluate swim team practices and competitive meets.
- Coach from the pool deck and in the water.
- Required attendance at practices and all swim meets.
· (Head Coach) Supervise and mentor assistant and volunteer coaches. Ensure that assistants and volunteer coaches are on task and prepared for practices and meets.
- (Head Coach) Setup and run meets using Meet Manager software.
Qualifications:
Training and Experience
Any combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge and ability will be qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:
- At least one (1) year’s work experience as a swim coach
- At least three (2) years’ experience as part of a swim team
- Previous experience using a meet management software (Meet Manager, Swimcloud, or similar)
Certification/Licensing Requirements
· A valid California Driver's License.
· AED/CPR/First aid certificate
· Lifeguard certificate strongly preferred
First Aid & Lifeguard certification class available at AMRPD during select dates in April/May.
Physical Requirements
· Reaching, grasping, talking, walking, hearing, seeing, swimming, lifting, and repetitive motion.
· Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move and lift objects.
· Ability to work outside during summer temperatures and weather conditions.
Travel is associated with this position. (Most travel is within 1 hour of the Arden-Arcade area)
Compensation:
Hours: Part-time position. 30-40 hours per week from April to August 2026
Pay Rate: $19.00 for the head coach and $18.50 for the assistant coach.
