We are looking for a head swim coach & an assistant swim coach!

The Pirates:
The Arden Manor Pirates Swim Club is a summer recreation swim team that focuses on development, competitiveness and fun! Our team is located in the Arden Arcade area and consists of 80+ swimmers of varying skill levels ranging from 4 – 18 years old.

Job Description:
Coaches for the AMRPD Pirates provide guidance, leadership, and instruction to the team.

This seasonal/temporary position for the Arden Manor Recreation and Park District will oversee the operations of a recreation swim team program including, but not limited to scheduling, training, and evaluating swim team practices and competitive meets. Compensation is $18.50-$19.00/hour depending on role.

Coaches are expected to organize and conduct swim team practices with age-appropriate workouts including an emphasis on technique, stroke development, drills, and endurance-fitness in a fun and safe environment.

The head coach will be expected to supervise and mentor assistant and volunteer coaches. It is the job of the head coach to make sure that assistant and volunteer coaches are on task and prepared for practices and meets.

Other responsibilities of the coaches nclude overseeing team-related administrative duties, communicating with parents and swimmers, and fostering relationships to create an enjoyable and memorable swim team experience.

This position requires attendance at practices and all swim meets.

PREVIOUS SWIM TEAM COACHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The Ideal Candidate:

  • (Head Coach) Experience using Meet Manager or other meet management software
  • Experience as a competitive swimmer. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in coaching all competitive swim strokes.
  • Previous coaching experience
  • The ability to motivate, demonstrate patience and bring enthusiasm to the position.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Comfort in communicating with parents, swimmers and District staff
  • Comfortable coaching from the deck and in the water.
  • Passion for swimmer improvement and friendly competition.

This is a seasonal/temporary position employed from approximately April through July each year. The head coach is required to conduct practices Monday – Friday as well as Saturday meets starting late May.

All applicants must be CPR/AED certified. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of Department of Justice background investigation.
