About the Arden Manor Swim Club

The Arden Manor Recreation and Park District is proud to present the Arden Manor Pirates Swim Club.  The Pirates will begin patrolling the waters of Deterding Pool in May 2012.  This community Swim Club is run by the Arden Manor Recreation and Park District and will be open to all swimmers able to swim the length of the pool unassisted through age 18.  This program will focus on developing swimmers at a competitive level in a fun, supportive, and team-oriented environment.  We are offering early registration discounts, multi-child discounts (immediate family in same household), and no fundraising commitments.

How do I know if my child is eligible for the team?
We accept all swimmers that are able to swim the length of the pool unassisted. We will offer several swim test days as the season nears.  You may register ahead of time to secure your spot, should your child not pass the swim test we can refund your fees or credit them towards swimming lessons.  

Do I have to volunteer?  What is the commitment?
We focus on making sure that parents get to see their children swim during meets.  Each parent will be required to work two meet volunteer shifts during the season.  We will have outside vendors providing food during meets which will greatly reduce the number of volunteer parent hours needed.  We expect each parent to work one, possibly two, 3 to 4 hour shifts during the course of the meet season.  There is a $50 parent volunteer check due before the beginning of the season (per family) that will be deposited should a parent fail to attend their scheduled meet day duties.   
We also have a 5 person parent board that will assist with fundraising, meet coordination, and events.  If you are interested in participating please contact Cody Kilmer at 916.487.7851 or ckilmer@amrpd.org for more information.

Fundraising?  Is there a requirement or buyout?
There is no fundraising requirement or buyout fee.  Parents will not be responsible for raising an established amount during the season.  We will have two restaurant night fundraisers and a Swim-A-Thon during the course of the season.  There is not a required amount that needs to be raised for these events.
